Vancouver has been rated number 1 city to live and offers something for
everybody - get your timing right and you can be on the ski slopes in the morning and on the beach in the afternoon. Outdoor
living is what this area is all about, whether on foot, ski, boat or bike.
SKIING
Bowen Island is a 15 minute ferry ride across from Horseshoe Bay on the North Shore of the mainland.
This makes it a perfect Winter location to try out all the skiing in the area - locally we have Cypress Mountain (our favourite) which
is the closest and has beautiful views across the sea and of Bowen Island; Grouse Mountain which has a fabulous city view and
lastly, Mount Seymore. There is night skiing on all of these mountains.
A 2 hour scenic drive up the Sea to Sky
highway and you are at Whistler. Whistler is hosting the 2010 winter Olympics and is a well renowned, international ski resort.

BOATING
Sewells Marina, in Horseshoe Bay, has power boats
for hire and you can take to the seas at your own pace from there. take a picnic and look out for the seals as you
bob around in Howe Sound.

CYCLING
Bowen Island has a few hills
on it so you would need to be reasonably fit to enjoy a day out on your bike here - that said there are a lot of cyclists
here and the winding, country lanes with 40km speed limit for cars make Bowen a great place for a bike ride. There is also
a mountain bike park for those of you who want to get some air!
On the mainland - head for Stanley Park with your
bike and follow the Sea Wall all the way round and through it for a less taxing but beautiful ride with stops at the beaches
and cafes along the way. A perfect day out in the summer.

SHOPPING
If you are staying
with us for a while and can't quite do without going into town, our nearest shopping mall is Park Royal in West Vancouver
(on the mainland) and is a 10 minute drive or bus ride from Horseshoe Bay. There is a great choice of retail outlets
and restaurants here. Shop 'til you drop and then return to Bowen to unwind. Park Royal Shopping Mall
